Hearne—Funeral services for Hugo D. Gode, 79, were held at the First Baptist Church in Hearne with the Rev. Buford Harrell officiating, assisted by the Rev. Everett Martin of Austin. Burial was in the Norwood Cemetery.
Gode died in Austin. He was born in Switzerland and came to this country in 1880.
Gode went to work for the Missouri Pacific Railway in 1899 and was the Hearne station agent for the railroad for 17 years until his retirement on June 7, 1958.
He was active in civic life of Hearne and a deacon of the First Baptist Church.
Surviving are his wife of Hearne; four sons, L. M. Gode of Houston, H. A. Gode of Los Angeles, Calif., R. K. Gode of Cotulla, and Marvin Gode of Sulphur Springs; and two daughters, Mrs. Thelma G. Nieman of San Francisco, Calif., and Mrs. W. B. Collier of San Antonio.
