Eliza R. Snow Alexander was the daughter of Randolph Alexander and Myrza Nix. She was born Dec. 13, 1859 at Big Cottonwood, Utah, and spent most of her life at Parley's Canyon, near Salt Lake City. The family moved to Washington, Wash. Co., Utah where she grew to womanhood. Here she met and married William R. Butler. They were devoted to each other. She was a singer and together they worked in the music of the towns they lived in. She was good to help with sickness. She served as midwife for a number of years. She had a cheerful disposition and it was a pleasure to be in her company. She was very original and did some composing of poetry. One of her poems was put to music and a son, Hyrum, remembers singing it in the old meeting house on the hill. He was so small they stood him on a chair to sing the song. She lived to be 81 years of age. She always retained her cheerful disposition and was long remembered y those who knew her.
