JOSEPH W. MAY "POPS"

He was cherished as a father, grandfather, great-grandfather, brother, friend and so much more. Joseph Warren May passed away on Monday, October 5, 2009 at 2 AM at Prince William Hospital. He was 86 years old and a resident of Manassas City. He is survived by Ethel May and their 5 children, son, Joseph and Joan May, Jr, of Manassas, sons, Melvin and David May of Manassas, daughter, Sharon and Jerry Harris of Catlett, and son, Paul and Brenda May of Fairfax. He also leaves 7 grandchildren, Kimberly May, Joseph May, Paul May, Jr., Travis May, Julia May, Jerry Harris II, and Jason Harris and 1 great-grand son William May. He leaves his sister Dorothy Feagans of Alexandria, and sister, Jacqueline and Gary Corbin of Culpeper as well as many nieces and nephews. He was preceded by his parents Luther and Jessie May, two brothers Luther and Louis May and one sister, Helen Chambers. He is a World War II Veteran and a member of the Moose Lodge, VFW, and the American Legion. All his life he has been a carpenter by trade. He was always willing to lend a helping hand. He made friends with any one and would greet them with a smiling face and a funny story. With his great enjoyment of dancing and living life to the fullest he has met many and left his mark in their heart and is known as "POPS".

The family will receive friends at Baker-Post Funeral Home & Cremation Center, 10001 Nokesville Rd., Manassas, VA on Thursday, October 8, 2009 from 7 PM to 9 PM. The funeral services will be conducted on Friday, October 9, 2009 at 11 AM with Reverend Tommy Herndon, Jr. officiating. Interment will follow at Stonewall Memory Gardens, 12004 Lee Highway Manassas, VA 20109.
