Curlew - Funeral services for Rev. George W. Brallier, retired minister of the Brethren church were held at 2 o'clock at the Prairie View Church of the Brethren, southwest of Curlew Tuesday afternoon, following a short service at the home of his son, Amos Brallier, with the Rev. Russel Hart, officiating. Rev. Hart read from I John 3, 1-5, and a hymn, "Sometime We'll Understand," was sung by the quartet.
Rev. Oscar Sterns of Guthrie, Minn. read the scripture, offered the prayer and paid tribute to both Rev. and Mrs. Brallier.
Rev. N. W. Kingert of Kingsley delivered the sermon, using the theme "God's Rest" taken from Hebrew 4, 9.
Members of the quartette were Blaine Drown, Mrs. Emory Johnson, Mrs. LuVern Seagren and Lloyd Seagren. They sang, "No Night There." A Duet, "Beyond the Sunset," was sung by Blaine Drown and Mrs. Lu Vern Seagren. The closing hymn was, "Saved by Grace," sung by the quartette. Mrs. Lloyd Seagren was accompanist. Miss Fern Grossnickle assisted with the music for the prelude.
Mrs. Russel Hart, Mrs. Max Grossnickle and Mrs. Otis Pieratt had charge of the flowers.
The pallbearers were: Alfred Martin, Maynard S. Grossnickle, Alfred Johnson, William Truog, Rev. Ben T. Fish, and William Rouse.
The Foy Funeral home directed the funeral. Interment was in Rush Lake cemetery, south of Curlew.
George Henry Brallier, was born in Garrison, in Benton county Nov. 25, 1877, the son of David and Sarah Brallier.
On Sept. 12, 1906 he was united in marriage with Eva Brallier at Curlew. They made their home south of Curlew where their four children were born.
Mr. Brallier died June 4 at his home south of Curlew following a short illness. A retired minister since 1946, he was a loved and respected citizen among a large circle of friends.
His wife and four children, Evan L. Brallier, Amos R. Brallier both of Curlew, Rev. Virgil V. Brallier of Brownsville, Maryland and Mrs. Harold W. Duncanson of Plover survive him. Eight grandchildren survive. Other survivors include five sisters and two brothers.
They are Mrs. George Mills of Greenville, Mrs. Nora Johnson of Albert Lea, Minn., Mrs. George Fisher of Mabton, Wash., Mrs. Della Hagberg of Spencer, Mrs. Frank Biddle of Sunnyside, Wash., Merle Brallier of Spencer and Arthur Brallier of Outlook, Wash.
