Zura E. MONROE, 73, prominent farmer of the Freedom community died at his home at 8 p.m. Friday. He had suffered a stroke Jan 25. he was a native of Celina, Ohio born May 15, 1883 to John and Mary Buxton Monroe. He was married in Waveland March 5, 1902 to Jessie BLAKE who survives. He was a member and deacon of the Freedom Baptist Church. He was for 35 years an agent for the Farmers Mutual Insurance Co and had served as assessor in Brown Twp. Surviving besides the widow are two daughters, Mrs. Waneta Bannon of Parkersburg and Mrs. Naomi Cox of Crawfordsville; 3 grandchildren and six greats. Funeral services were held at 2:30 p.m. Sunday a Freedom Baptist Church with the Rev. CW Mears of Spencer officiating. Interment was in the Freedom Cemetery.
