---John W. Archer, ninety-two, died at his home at 1418 S. First Street Tuesday night at 10:30.
---Funeral services will be held at the Davis Funeral Chapel at 202 East Washington, Friday afternoon at 2:00, conducted by Rev. Melvin Fiscuss. Interment will be in the Stukey cemetery at Millard.
---Born in Schuyler county near Queen City on September 15, 1858, he was the son of Louis and Margaret (Logston) Archer.
---He was married to Linda Stevens and three sons and three daughters were born to them. His wife died in 1895 and two sons also preceded him in death.
---He was married to Cora Whiteford in 1902 and she died August 8, 1949. Two sons and two daughters were born to this marriage. One son and one daughter by this marriage preceded him in death.
---Surviving are three daughters and one son by the first marriage, Mrs. Alpha Flynn of Center, Colorado, Mrs. Blanche Bartlett and Mrs. Corda Lawrence, both of Kirksville and Glen Archer of Eldorado, Iowa. One daughter, Mrs. Bonnie Fiscus of Camp Point, Illinois and one son, Ray Archer of South Gate, California by the second marriage. Seven grandchildren and to great-grandchildren also survive.
---Mr. Archer was a farmer in Schuyler County for a number of years. In 1927 he sold his farm and purchased a small acreage north of Kirksville where he lived until he move to Kirksville.
---He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church, South.
---The body will lie in state at the Davis Funeral Home at 202 East Washington Street in Kirksville.
