Obituary: Orton Stephen Cochrane

Art Cochrane, age 87, passed away peacefully surrounded by his family on December 10, 2003 of natural causes.

Art was born on April 23, 1916 in Taylorsville, Utah to William Henry and Myrtle Thornton Cochrane. Graduated from Tooele High School.

Attended BYU where he met Beth Sorensen from Glenwood, Utah. Married September 4, 1940 in the Salt Lake Temple. He held many LDS church positions.

Retired from the Salt Lake Fire Dept. after 25 years. Past-president Salt Lake Organ Club; sold organs and pianos for many years. Also was a salesperson for Menlove Dodge & Toyota for 15 years. Member of Knights of Pythius, Toastmasters, Past-present of Retired Fireman's Assoc.

Art and Beth traveled the world extensively. Art was an avid fisherman and outdoorsman. His greatest joys were riding his horse Begger and spending quality time with his children, grandchildren and great-grand-children.

Survived by his wife Beth (of 63 years); brothers, Delmar and Wayne; children, Stephen T. (Maryann), Paul V. (Pam), Ken (Sandy), Peggy (Ghil) Cundick, and Keith (Lori); 16 grandchildren and 13 great-grandchildren.

Family extends a special thanks to the staff of the Residence Care Source.

Services to be held Monday, Dec. 15, at 12 noon, Foothill 3rd Ward, 1794 S. Texas Street (2400 East), Salt Lake City, Utah. Friends and family may attend viewing Sunday evening viewing from 6-8 p.m., Larkin Sunset Lawn, 2350 E. 1300 S., and at the Ward, one hour prior to service.
Interment, Sunset Lawn Cemetery.
