Cecil Ellison Nichols -- Age 82, died Thursday, October 1, 2009, at 3:00 p.m. in New Iberia, LA. Mr. Nichols ``Nick" lived in Theodore, AL for 30 years and has been a resident of Parks, LA for the past twelve years. Mr. Nichols served in WWII in both the U.S. Navy and the U.S. Army. He worked various jobs, including Bender Shipyard and plant shut-downs throughout the states as a mechanic. He was preceded in death by his wife of 43 years, Marie Wade Nichols; his son, Michael E. Nichols; father and mother, Ernest and Mildred Nichols; brothers, Florin, Furniss, Doug, and Arthur Nichols; and his sister, Ernestine Kostamayer. He is survived by two daughters, Sandra Helveston and her husband, Wilton Helveston of Parks, LA and Cecilia Fedder of Daphne, AL; his son, Wallace Nichols of Texas; daughter-in-law, Jeanie Bell Nichols of Cary, NC; his sister, Catherine and husband, Leon Price; eight grandchildren; and thirteen great-grandchildren. Funeral services will be held from the chapel of Mobile Memorial Gardens Funeral Home on Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at 10:00 a.m. The family will receive friends from 9:00 a.m. until service time at the funeral home.
