Ramona Harper

Ramona Harper, beloved wife, mother of six children, grandmother of fifteen, great-grandmother of one and devout Catholic, died peacefully, Thursday, October 1, 2009, in Madison, Mississippi.

Born Ramona Josephine Keiser in Columbus, Ohio, on October 24, 1928.

She met Robert J. Harper, Jr., while he was attending Ohio State University and they married in 1956. Mrs. Harper was a resident of Metairie, LA for over forty years where she belonged to St. Philip Neri Church and the Pelican Squares, among other organizations. Her children attended St. Philip Neri School, Archbishop Chapelle High School and Archbishop Rummel High School.

After raising her children, Mrs. Harper served as a nursing home ombudsman and a Eucharistic minister.

She is preceded in death by her parents, Helen Enekel Keiser and Edward Keiser, Sr.; a sister, Rowena Keiser; and a brother, Edward Keiser, Jr.

She is survived by her husband, Dr. Robert John Harper, Jr.; and her six children and their spouses, Theresa Rose Harper Ray and husband, David Ray, Margaret Anne Harper and husband, Paul Tarantolo, Agnes Eileen Harper Lawrence, and husband John Lawrence, Robert Edmund Harper and wife, Michelle Keller Harper, Daniel Stephen Harper and wife, Dianne Cordes Harper and Dorothy Jean Harper Nulty and husband, Peter Nulty.

She is also survived by her grandchildren, Matthew Ray, Rachel Harper-Tarantolo Leppo, Sarah Harper-Tarantolo, Jesse Harper-Tarantolo, Laura Harper-Tarantolo, Lindsey Lawrence Brady, Daniel Lawrence, Mallory Lawrence, Hillary Lawrence, Amy Harper, Holly Harper, Shelly Harper, Stephen Harper, Michael Harper and Joseph Nulty; and her great-grandchild, John Brady.

A Funeral Mass will be held at 12 noon on Monday, October 5, 2009, at St. Philip Neri Church, 6500 Kawanee Ave., Metairie, LA, with visitation from 11 am until 12 noon. There will also be a Memorial Mass at St. Catherine's Village Chapel in Madison on Tuesday, October 6, 2009, at 8:30 am with interment following in Natchez Trace Memorial Park Cemetery in Madison, MS.

In lieu of flowers, please make donations to Alzheimer's Association or Breakthrough Corp of Knoxville, TN.
