They had 6 more babies to a total of nine children, living in Canton, OH until they purchased a farm in Halifax Co, VA called "Cole Ferry Farm".
Emily was widowed in 1900 when Thornton died. She lived 16 more years without remarrying and passed on 16 Dec 1916 in the home of her son, Dr. Septimus Jasper Kell in Welch, WV.
She is buried in Canton, OH in West Lawn Cemetery.
Her brother William Bertram is also buried in West Lawn Cemetery. Find-A-Grave # 97771181.
