Benjamin Franklin was the last of 10 children (6th son) born of Leman Bartholomew (1783-1863) and his wife Clarissa Coggswell (1789-1864). Benjamin's siblings were: Almon (1806-1889), Alma (1808-1810), Caroline (1809-1905), Darwin (1811-1819), Harriett (1812-1816), Betsy (1814-1879), Shepherd (1816-1900), Harry (1818-1903), and Warren (1820-1897).

Benjamin married, June 4, 1844, Pauline Fish (1822-1865) by whom he had 4 children (2 sons and 2 daughters): Mary Ann ( 1845-1848), George Fish (b. 1848), Anna P. (b. 1850), and Lemon F. (b. 1859).
