IDAHO FALLS -- Calvin Elan Ball, 77, of Idaho Falls, died October 1, 2009, at Eastern Idaho Regional Medical Center of an aneurysm.
Elan was born January 30, 1932, in Ammon, Idaho, to Willard J. Ball and Ethel Singley Ball. He was the 11th of 13 children. His childhood was full of horseback riding, milking cows with his brothers, and teasing his nine sisters. Elan attended Ammon Elementary School and graduated from Ammon High School in 1951. He also attended Idaho State University. Elan served his country in the U. S. Army as a Corporal, during the Korean War, for four years.
On April 23, 1958, Elan married Shirlene H. Murdock in Idaho Falls. Together they had four children: Craig, Tammie, Darin, and Teresa. Family always held a special place in Elan's heart. He was a well driller for a few years, and then became a cement mason for 33 years until he retired.
He was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, and the Eagles. Camping and fishing were a weekend occurrence, which the whole family enjoyed.
