Willard Jones Ball was born in Marsh Valley (Downey) , Idaho Jul. 24, 1895 to James Calloway Ball and Sarah Emeline Moore. His mother died in 1901 and the family moved to Blackfoot, Idaho shortly thereafter. Willard attended school there.

Willard had one older full sister Viola and ten other half brothers and sisters.

Willard served as a Pvt in the Army in WWI in Europe.

In about 1919 he married Ethel Singley. They lived in Ammon, Idaho and had 13 children. He farmed 40 acres of his own land. All his children helped with the farm work. He grew potatoes and sugar beets. Ethel had her vegetable garden and would can and store food for her family. Willard also drove a bus for Bonneville, County Schools, and hauled grain and potatoes to the grainery and storage cellars for himself and other neighbors. They raised farm animals and poultry for their own use. They were primarily self sufficient in those early years. After their family was raised they worked for others to supplement their income.

Ethel died in January 1986 and Willard in November 1986.

Both are buried in the Ammon Idaho Cemetery.
