Stratford Evening Post, 6 May 1915
Mr William Hayhurst, aged 78 and formerly a resident of Masterton, died at Woodville on Sunday morning. Deceased settled in Woodville about 10 years ago and has been more or less an invalid during that time. He was an uncle of the late Colonel Hayhurst of Temuka and to Mr S. L. C. Parkes of Woodville. He was not married.

The funeral of late William Hayhurst will leave the residence of Mrs Ward, Village Settlement for the Woodville Cemetery at 2 o'clock. E. Grinlinton, Undertaker

About His nephew Colonel John Turnbull Murray Hayhurst (1869-1914) was a Farmer, Justice of the Peace and Mayor of Temuka. His son, Major Harry Holman Hayhurst, was also Mayor of Temuka. Colonel Hayhurst was killed in a Car Collision on the Main North Road, opposite the Washdyke Hotel on 14 Aug 1914. He and Mr Martin were coming into Timaru from Temuka in a new torpedo-shaped Darracq which the Colonel had just imported and had only driven a few times .. https://sites.rootsweb.com/~nzlscant/col_hayhurst.htm
