FUNERAL FOR A FORMER RESIDENT HELD IN OREGON

Of interest to Richfield people will be the account of funeral services held at Le Grande, Oregon, for a former resident. The article appeared in Salt Lake papers Saturday, as follows:

Impressive services were held in the Union Stake Tabernacle here for Mrs. Mary H. Bean, who died on her sixty-sixth birthday March 25, 1934. "A Beautiful City," "Whispering Hope" and "Oh My Father", favorite songs of the deceased were sung by a choir of thirty voices with Mrs. Nellie Bean and Mrs. Rose Bean as soloists. A pipe organ solo "A Perfect Day" was played by Mrs. Barbara Bean, as were also the prelude and postlude.

The speakers were Bishop Scot D. Brown of Weiser, Idaho; Geo. R. Lyman and Stake President David I. Stoddard; the invocation was by Dr. John B. Blackham and benediction by William B. Baxter.

At the cemetery the choir sang "Abide with Me," and the grave was dedicated by Lionel Lindsay.

Mary H. Bean was born at Nephi, Utah, March 25, 1868, the daughter of William George and Hannah Baker. Her girlhood was spent in Richfield where she married Victor E. Bean, December 7 1887. Mr. Bean was accidentally killed, July 26, 1913. For the past 30 years she had made her home in La Grande.

Mrs. Bean held many responsible positions in the church during her life time. She always spoke well of every one and was affectionately known as Mother Bean throughout eastern Oregon.

Ten children were born to her nine of whom survive, Mrs. Ethel B. Andrew, Twin Falls, Idaho; Mrs. Emma Chadwick, Weiser, Idaho; Jesse H. Bean, Klamath Falls, Oregon; Mrs. Lila Walsh, George A., Walter A., Ellis E., William Grant and Mae Bean of La Grande. Surviving also are four brothers, Henry Baker of Richfield, Eugene Baker of Teasdale, Claud and Edward L. Baker of Boulder; one sister, Mrs. W. T. Ogden of Richfield and 10 grandchildren.

Mr. and Mrs. W.T. Ogden went to La Grande to attend the funeral, and were accompanied from Wyoming by Mr. and Mrs. Lorin T. Oldroyd, who also are relatives and former Richfield residents.
