Frank's parents were John W. Fite and Amelia "Millie" Cotterill (aka Cotteral, Cotterill, Cottril).

Franklin married Bathsheba Lawrence in Brown County, Ohio, on Feb 22, 1849.

When the Civil War broke out, Frank enlisted. On Oct 14, 1862, at the age of 35, he enlisted as a Private in Company G, 59th Regiment, Ohio Volunteer Infantry. He was killed Nov 25, 1863 at Missionary Ridge, in a battle on the outskirts of Chattanooga, Tennessee.
