A native of Cabarrus County, she was a daughter of the late Raymond Atlas and Katie McIntyre McLaurin. She was a member of Plainview Baptist Church.
In addition to her parents, she was preceded in death by an infant sister.
She is survived by her husband of 51 years, Charles Mathis of the home; a son, Charles Mathis and wife, Monica, of Shelby; a daughter, Bonnie Mathis Page of Boiling Springs; four sisters, Doris Tucker of Concord, Pauline Oakes of Shelby, Mary Sisk and husband, James, of Casar, and Ruth Sturms of St. Petersburg, Fla.; two brothers, Lloyd and Bobby McLaurin, both of Thomasville; five grandchildren, Shannon Smith and wife, Ashley, of Kings Mountain, Joshua Mathis and wife, Corey, of Forest City, April Smith Glenn and husband, Wade, of Lattimore, Joseph Mathis and Clarissa Mathis, both of Shelby; and four great-grandchildren, Caleb and Noah Smith and Madison and Troy Mathis.
