A funeral for Thelma L. Smith of Mountain Home will be at 2 pm Tuesday at Kirby-Boaz Funeral Home Chapel with Rev. Bill Hughes and Rev. Howard James officiating. Thelma Smith died Friday, Jan. 5, 2007 at Gassville Nursing Home. She was 81.
Thelma Smith was born on January 26, 1925 to George and Maggie Fowler Hensley. She was the common law wife of Gene Meeks for over 25 years. She was a waitress, who worked in the restaurant business for many years. Thelma lived in Mountain Home for 30 years moving from Rapid City, SD. She was of the Church of Christ faith. She loved to sew and spend time with friends and neighbors.
Survivors: She is survived by her husband Gene Meeks of Mountain Home, daughter, Myrtle Copeland of Mountain Home, one sister, Virgie Bird of Michigan and close friends, Charlie Copeland and Family of Mountain Home, David and Angel Strain and Family of Mountain Home, Marie Connelly of Mountain Home, and Auda Graves of Cotter.
She was preceded in death by her parents.
Burial will be in East Oakland Cemetery in Mountain Home.
Arrangements are by Kirby-Boaz Funeral Directors.
