Wyona Powell Welker, 85, of Safford died peacefully Wednesday, Sept. 23, 2009 in Peoria, Arizona. She was born June 8, 1924, in Eldorado, Oklahoma, and was the sixth of nine children. When she was young, her family moved to Pima, where she was raised and educated. While growing up, she enjoyed many outdoor activities, including horseback riding, walking, working around the farm and gardening. She also loved to sew, ceramics, taking classes and had a passion for reading. She had several interesting jobs throughout her career but most of all loved working at J. Green's Men's Clothing store. She was a member of The Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints. She was loved by many and will be dearly missed.

She is survived by two sisters and one brother, Rowena Crum, Rita Alder and Allen Powell; and three children, Randall Welker, Rex Welker and Donna McKenzie. She was preceded in death by her son, Dallas Welker. She was blessed with 14 grandchildren and 35 great-grandchildren.

Funeral Services will be conducted Monday,September 28 in the Pima Stake Center at 12 noon with a viewing one hour prior. Interment will be in the Pima Cemetery.
