"Rebekah" King was born on around Feb 28, 1826 Henderson County, North Carolina. Her parents were Jeremiah King(1803-1880) and Nancy Irwin (1801-1850). She married John Graves M. Holbert in 1850 in Henderson County, North Carolina.

They had two children during their marriage:

and

Monterville Gaston Holbert-Find A Grave Memorial# 64682061).

She died as a young mother in 1853 of milk fever. Her grave is unknown.

In 1854 John married his second wife, Maden Foster Holbert (1833 - 1912).

John Holbert enlisted July 1862 the Civil War in the Conferderate Military Unit of the Sixty-fourth Infantry (11th Battalion, Allen's Regiment)Company E of North Carolina.
After John died most of the family moved back to North Carolina, except Monterville, James, Rebecca and Isaac who stayed in Georgia.
