Death Takes Miss Nora Taliaferro

Miss Eleanor W. Taliaferro, a resident of Gloucester for the greater part of her life, died in a Norfolk hospital on Thursday of last week. She had been in ill health for the past several months and her death was not totally unexpected.

Miss Taliaferro, daughter of John and Eleanor Anderson Taliaferro, was born at Toddsbury, this county, April 17, 1862, and was therefore, nearly 69 years of age. In early life she lived at the old Rectory, above Gloucester village, which former place was then called Elmwood. Later her home was in King and Queen county and at Gloucester Point. In recent years not a little of her time was spent away from her native county. She spent two years in the Philippine Islands several years ago with the family of her nephew, Capt. Philip B. Taliaferro, U.S.A. She had many friends in Gloucester and elsewhere who regret to learn of her death.

Miss Taliaferro is survived by one brother, Hansford E. Taliaferro, of Gloucester, one niece, Mrs. John T. DuVal, and four nephews: John Earl Taliaferro, Gloucester; W. Perrin Taliaferro, Richmond; Capt. Philip B. Taliaferro, Atlanta, Ga., and W. Kent Taliaferro, Scranton, Pa. Four brothers preceded her to the grave, namely: Richard P. Taliaferro, J. Albert Taliaferro, Wm. H. Taliaferro and Bernard A. Taliaferro.

Interment was in the family lot at Ware Church on Friday evening at 3:30 o'clock, Rev. Robt. A. Magill officiating. The funeral was largely attended, many out of the county friends being present. The pall bearers were: George E. Cary; Dr. H. A. Tabb, W. A. Robinson, L. Pace Corr, Van Bibber T. Sanders, H. E. Hutcheson, A. A. Johnson and W. S. Mott.
