Archibald Thom[p]son, wife, and son Robert, came to America in 1724 from the Ulster Province of Ireland; resided a short time in Abington, afterward at Bridgewater. Mr. Thom[p]son made the first spinning wheel in New England. He was one of the early settlers of the North Parish. He died in 1776, age 85. From "The History of North Bridgewater"
