The funeral for Frank James Burpo, 87, will be 2 p.m. Thursday, Oct. 1, 2009, at Lighthouse Praise and Worship Center, Kingfisher. Burial will be in Banner Cemetery, east of Dover. Arrangements are by Sanders Funeral Service, Kingfisher.
He was born Aug. 7, 1922, near Crescent to Walter and Ollie Bell Burpo and died Saturday, Sept. 26, 2009.
He married Wanda Evelyn Brooks Nov. 14, 1940, in Crescent and they lived on a farm in the Dover area. She died in 2003.
He attended several churches in the Kingfisher area and at one time had a church on his farm. He was a farmer and also worked for Kingfisher County road district for 38 years, retiring in 2005.
Surviving are his children, Judy Emrick of Crescent, Dean Burpo of Oronogo, Mo., Tresa Stephens of Mannford, Gayla Burpo of Colorado, and Steve Burpo and Brendon Burpo, both of Dover; two sisters, Mae Jones and June Fike, both of Kingfisher; two brothers, Albert Burpo and Gene Burpo, both of California; nine grandchildren; and 12 great-grandchildren.
