"Funeral services will be at 11 a.m. Saturday at Trinity Lutheran Church with the Rev. David Bode officiating.
Visitation is from 4 to 9 p.m. today at the Olson-Schwartz Funeral Home, with a prayer service at 7:30 p.m. Visitation continues at the church Saturday for a half hour before the services. Interment will be in Oakdale Cemetery at Crookston.
"Honorary pallbearers are Harvey Jensrud, Ervin Jensrud, Jack Jensrud, Kermit Heiberg, Ralph Kaus, George Johnson, Dan Jensrud and Dennis Smith.
Active pallbearers will be Michael Kaus, Troy and Mark Jensrud, Paul Heiberg, Brian Johnsen and Dennis Johnson.
"Mr. Demarais was born SEP 2, 1924, at Crookston, the son of Joseph and Agnes Demarais. He grew up and went to school in the Crookston area and married Agnes Jensrud Oct. 16, 1943, at Crookston. He became a member of the Hafslo Lutheran Church in 1944. He served in the U.S. Army during World War II and was shipped overseas in Jan. 1945 to serve in France and Germany. After his discharge in JUN 1946 he returned to Crookston, then moved to Duluth to work for Elliot Packing. He moved to Coon Rapids in 1956 and went to work for the American National Insurance Co. He was promoted to district manager and served in that capacity in Raleigh, N.C. and Atlanta, Ga., before moving to Phoenix, Ariz. in 1972 for health reasons. He retired in 1980 and they moved to Rochester, where they lived until Agnes retired in 1988. They then moved to Bemidji. He was a member of Trinity Lutheran Church and currently its financial secretary and a member of the church choir. He raised chickens, turkeys and game birds on his hobby farm and spent time fishing and hunting.
He is survived by his wife; a son Steve (Sue) Demarais of Des Moines, Iowa; a daughter, Karen (Mark) Dahl of Honolulu, Hawaii, five grandchildren; a sister, Darlene (Kermit) Heiberg of Crookston, a brother, James Solie of Crookston; and many nieces and nephews. He was preceded in death by his parents, a stepfather, Oliver Solie, a brother, Elroy, and two sisters, Josephine and Lorraine."
