James and all of his siblings were born in what is now Franklin Co., PA near Chambersburg (it was Cumberland Co., at the time as Franklin County did not come into existence until 1784), not Franklin, PA. His parents William and Eleanor (Thompson) Ewing moved the family to Indiana County between 1770 and 1774 when William died. A lot of the family is buried in Ebenezer Cemetery in Lewisville.
Mary Ewing's maiden name was Mary Horn, daughter of Thomas Horn and Sarah Moffitt. She was also from Franklin/Cumberland Co., born about 1772. She died on 07 Feb 1858 by our family history. Mary and James were married in 1795.
