On Jan 30, 1909 he married Mary "May" Cripps, daughter of John and Margaret (Moran) Cripps of Chatham, New Brunswick, Canada. They had six children, 5 of which survived infancy: Lillian Beatrice, Stanley Cripps, Cora Elizabeth, Winston Earl, Infant Boy, and Hilda May. Their youngest child, Hilda, was born only 13 months before Mary succumbed to the effects of Influenza in the 1918 Flu Pandemic. Ike did his best to raise the family without the help of a wife, relying on relatives for help. He lived until 1961, residing for many years in Arlington, Ma.
