Funeral services for George (Joris in Dutch) Verwolf Sr., who died Thursday at the hospital in Bozeman, will be conducted at 3 p.m. Monday at Dokken-Nelson's Sunset Chapel. Burial will be in Sunset Hills Cemetery.

Verwolf, a Manhattan area resident since 1905, was born June 19, 1876, at Ameide, South Holland, The Netherlands, the son of Mr. and Mrs. John Verwolf. He came to the United States in 1905 and settled at Manhattan. He was owner and manager of Verwolf Company, a general merchandise store in Manhattan for 21 years. He also was a stockholder and president of Manhattan State Bank and was a grain and livestock rancher.

Verwolf was married to Grace Fabrick, Manhattan.

He was an alderman of the Town of Manhattan for 16 years and past president of the Manhattan Fire Department. A member of the Manhattan Masonic Lodge, Verwolf also was a member of Scottish Rite and Bagdad Shrine Temple, Butte.

Surviving are the widow; a daughter-in-law, Mrs. Gladys Verwolf Jr., of Manhattan; two grandchildren of Manhattan; three brothers, Dick Verwolf of Bozeman, the Rev. William Verwolf of Alaska and Mike Shuirman of Michigan and three sisters, Mrs. John (Maggie) Kaspersma of Conrad, Mrs. Harry (Lena) Latta of Spokane, Wash., and Mrs. John (Julie) VanderArk of Michigan.
