PLEASANT HILL - The funeral will be at 11 a.m. Friday, Nov. 3, at the Emerald Valley Golf Club in Creswell for Max Jack Smith of Pleasant Hill, who died Oct. 31 of heart-related causes at age 75. Burial will be at 3 p.m. Friday at Pleasant Hill Cemetery.

He was born July 18, 1931, in Japton, Alaska, to Max and Mary Davis Smith. He married Viola Sommers in 1951 in Sweet Home, and they later divorced. He married Elva Harper in 1969 in Reno, Nev.

Smith had worked in a variety of jobs connected with logging and logging equipment.

Survivors include his wife; a son, James of Germantown, Md.; five daughters, Patricia Gehlhaar, Kristilyn Abrams and Brenda Allwander, all of Eugene, Betty Taylor of Roseburg and Breanna DuBray of Pleasant Hill; a sister, Velma Allan of Fayetteville, Ark.; three brothers, Garland of Lebanon, Denzil of Houston and James of Farmington, Ark.; nine grandchildren and three great-grandchildren.
