Funeral services for Deck Stroud, 63, were held at the Union Hill Baptist Church, Wednesday, February 24. Mr. Stroud died February 23, in Huey Long Memorial Hospital in Alexandria [sic Pineville].

He had been in failing health for some time and had undergone an operation a few weeks ago.

Rev. Jerry Green, assisted by Rev. Waynon Mott and Rev. A. N. Baum, conducted the services. Burial was in the Winnfield Cemetery.

Survivors include three sons, Elbert Stroud and James Henry Stroud of Montgomery, Aaron Stroud of Alexandria; two daughters, Mrs. Sally Johnson and Mrs. Ervin Neal, both of Montgomery, and 13 grandchildren.

Pallbearers were Mack McGinty, Willard McGinty, Paul Downs, Frank Crew, and Henry LaCour.

NOTES: Mr. Stroud's obituary is in error regarding his interment being in Winnfield Cemetery. He is buried in Mount Zion Cemetery where at least four of his children lie. His wife's parents are also interred in Mt. Zion. There are no grave markers for either Mr. or Mrs. Stroud.
