WMV King" is "William Valentine King," the son of John Nicton and Nancy Elizabeth (Nations) King. He was born in Sevier County, TN and was with his parents when they moved to Scott County, TN (U.S. Census 1870), Campbell County, TN (U.S. Census 1880), and Whitley County, Kentucky (U.S. Census 1900). He was identified as age 37 and "single" in the 1900 Census. If he had been previously married and his wife had died, the census would have recorded him as "widowed." We have found no marriage record for William Valentine King in Tennessee or Kentucky. Living with the family of John Nicton and Nancy Elizabeth (Nations) King in 1900 is John H. King identified as a grandson of the head of household. Some have indicated that he was the son of Wm. V. King, but there is nothing to indicate that connection. There were numerous other grandchildren of John and Elizabeth King who could have been living with their elderly grandparents and helping with farm work. The most reasonable conclusion is that Wm. V. King did not marry.
