Clay T. Myers, Jr., 73, died early this morning at Humana Hospital in Orange Park, Fla., following a short illness. He was retired from the Seaboard System Railroad in 1960 as a conductor for 44 years of service. He was member of First Baptist Church and had served in the Merchant Marine in World War II. A native of Savannah, he had resided in Ware County most of his life. His parents were Clay T. Myers and Martha Blitch Myers. Survivors include his wife, Era Sweat Myers, Waycross; a daughter, Loree M. Jones, Atlanta; a son, Clay T. Myers, III, Orange Park; six brothers, Herbert E. Myers, Mableton, Charles d. Myers, Lithonia, Willie E. Myers, Macon, Earl C. Myers, Catawba, N. C., James F. Myers, Albuquerque, New Mex., and Donald E. Myers, Los Angeles, Calif.; two grandchildren and other relatives. Graveside service will be held Saturday at 11 a.m. at Oakland Cemetery. The family will receive friends Friday from 7-9 p.m. at Miles-Odum Funeral Home.
