Cora and her Father Sanford Farmer both passed away at a young age in Brown Co. MN. Cora's Mother Lucinda remarried to a Mr. Baldwin after she was a Young Widow. It appears that Lucinda was living near or with Cora's Brother Ulysses Farmer in King Washington when Lucinda passed away in 1918.

The New Ulm MN Review July 10, 1878 had a large paragraph about Cora & Fred's Wedding and another Couple, William Miner & Mary A. Dungan who married at the same time. Cora's Great Grand Daughter Delores said she was told by her Grandfather Clarence Hopkins that her Great Grandmother (Anna) died from being attacked by a bull. (Cora's Son Clarence) Most of the Family were in farming and her Grandpa Clarence told her the sad story, warning her to be careful with the bulls. The New Ulm Weekly Review Sept 17, 1879 includes the story about Clarence's Grandmother's death. Cora's Mother
in Law Anna Mead Hopkins was Widowed and had continued to live on the farm
after she remarried to John Vine. Anna Mead Hopkins was now Mrs. John (Anna) Vine. Clarence's Mother Cora Farmer Hopkins tried to stop the bull and went after the bull with a pitchfork to try to save her Mother in Law Anna Vine. Cora could not save Anna and witnessed the horrific events. The newspaper story reveals quite horrific details surrounding the event. Anna's husband was not at home. Anna had felt safe as she knew the bull from their farm. The bull had been frightened by dogs or for whatever reason got angry when Anna approached it in the pasture to tie him up. The bull gored Anna to death. Cora was trying to stop the bull and rescue Anna, but couldn't. It appears Anna was killed instantly per her injuries in the article. Cora was a brave woman. This was traumatic for Cora and their Family. Anna passed away Sept 14. 1879 and was buried at the Iberia Cemetery (Oak Hill, now Oak Ridge) in Brown County the following Sunday per the article. More details in the article. Cora's Son Clarence
and Grandson Roy Hopkins discussed farm safety with their families, including
with their Grandchildren the rest of their lives.

Many in Cora's Family were Early Pioneers and in the Farming industry. This was passed on for generations in both the Hopkins Family and the Farmer Family. Cora's Mother
Lucinda's Miner Family were well documented. Per the New Ulm MN Wedding Review,
The Miner Family were documented pioneers and farmed too. Cora's Parents were in the Farming industry, Cora and Fred Hopkins farmed, Fred resumed Farming in Wisconsin, their Child Clarence farmed, his son ( Cora's Grandson) Roy Hopkins Farmed. At least one of Roy's Daughters, Cora's G.Grand daughter lived on a farm. In later generations, the grandchildren worked off the farm too, but still had farms. This writer spent time at the farms of Cora's Grand children in Polk Co. Wisconsin. Many other family members in Farming industry. See Cora's Father Sanford's Memorial regarding her Grandfather Nathan Jr. Farmer and Farmer Family impressive published biography and that source.(online- Ohio Genealogy Express.com)

Cora Farmer Hopkins was only 24 years old when she passed away. Fred Hopkins became a Widower. Fred Hopkins remarried to Mary A Upson. Fred & Mary Hopkins sold the Albin MN 128 acre Family Farm in 1898, stayed in Sleepy Eye MN for the winter, moved to Chippewa Co. and eventually they moved to Polk County Wisconsin. Fred and Mary had children too. Two references about Fred selling his farm in the New Ulm Review Sept. 14 & Dec. 7 1898. Fred's Brother Edward lived in Sleepy Eye MN. Fred and Clarence are buried at St. John's Cemetery in Centuria Polk Co. Wisconsin where they lived. Cora's Grandson Roy, who was born long after she passed away is also buried at St. Johns. It is unknown where Adelbert is buried at this time. Adelbert is buried in Raymond MN, exact cemetery not known. Cora is survived by many relatives around the USA including Wisconsin, most likely MN, other areas. Cora has many Grandchildren and Great Grandchildren in Wisconsin, Minnesota, Washington, elsewhere.
