Mary Finch Ehrhart was born in Columbia County, Ohio, April 5, 1827 and departed this life at her home near Salamonia, Jay County Ind January 17, 1902, aged 74 years 9 months and 12 days.

She was married to Timothy Ehrhart January 24, 1846. This union was blessed with nine children- three boys and six girls. Two boys and two girls still survive.

She moved with her husband from Columbiana Co., Ohio to this county in 1853 and settled upon the farm, where she lived constantly until the day of her death. She passed through all the privations and hardships of pioneer life in assisting to make the home, where she spent almost half a century of her life.

She became a member of the Church of Christ in Salamonia Feb 11, 1863 and remained one of the most faithful members of that body until she was claimed by death. She was constant in her devotions and never permitted anyting but sickness to deprive her of her devotional privileges.

She was apparently in her usual health to the last, having attended church and Sunday school services the last Lord's day she remaind on earth, participated in her accusomed duties about the home and was still doing so when stricken with death.

She leaves to mourn her departure a husband, two sons, two daughters and twenty-seven grandchildren, besides a hot of friends.

Funeral services were held at the Church of Christ in Salamonia, after which the remains were interred in the old ceetary in Salamonia.

"Where is the friend, who only yesterday, Spoke words of love to me?
Today I call in piteous tones for answer no sound come back to me.

Where is the daling mother, loved so fondly? Who a few days ago, Shut soulful eyes and left our hearts so broken,
Oh! Shall I ever now?

Oh, yes, for every day makes one the nearer, to that bright land so fair, Where all our loved ones greet us as we enter - The lost ones all are there.

Oh, Happy thought! comes every day the nearer, When I those friends shall see! I then shall know why I was left to sorrow, why they were called to Thee"
