Samuel B. Shearer
Mount Union, Pa. Nov. 23—Samuel B. Shearer, a much respected citizen of this place during the past sixteen years. passed away at his East Pennsylvania Avenue home, Thursday evening about 5 o'clock. Mr. Shearer had been ill for some months suffering with Brights Disease and complications andwas a great sufferer during the past few weeks. Some months ago he had been a patient in the J.C. Blair Memorial Hospital for observation and treatment and he became steadily worse until death relieved him of his sufferings. Samuel B. Shearer was aged 49 years, 8 months and 9 days, having been born on March 13, 1879. He was the son of Michael and Rosela Waters Shearer, of East Waterford, Pa., both of whom are also deceased. He was united in marriage to Miss Mae Hatt of Orbisonia, 23 years ago, who with one daughter, Mrs. Maxine Bott, of Philadelphia, survives. Two sisters, Mrs. J. Albert Young of Pittsburgh, Mrs. J. Donald Appleby of Mount Union, also survive. Samuel B. Shearer was a good citizen. Although of a quiet and retiring disposition he was always interested in the welfare of his home and family and he had many friends in the community in which he lived. He was employed with the Harbison-Walker Brick Company for a number of years before his health failed. He was a member of the Methodist Episcopal Church of Mount Union. Funeral services will be held from his late home, Sunday afteroon at 2 o'clock in charge of Rev. H.W. Hartsock, assisted by Rev. J. Alfred Cox. Interment will be made in the I.O.O.F. cemetery directed by Mortician W.P. Dunmire.
