He was born Oct. 7, 1935, to Cecil and Margaret (Elmlinger) Williams at Cameron. He graduated from Rice Lake High School in 1954 and was an auctioneer in the Rice Lake area for 40 years.
John loved his work, fishing trips to the cabin in Canada and deer hunting in the Minong area. He also loved spending time with his friends and family and always looked forward to seeing his grandchildren.
Surviving are a special friend, Carol VanGilder of Rice Lake; a son, Sam of Swanton, Ohio; daughters, Deb (Joe) Williams of South Dakota, Kathy (Bob) Wojciechowski of Newport News, Va., Linda (Todd) Morse of Swanton and Pam (Potsie) Weber of Markesan; 10 grandchildren; four great-grandchildren; sisters, Maxine Voelker of Eau Claire, Jackie (Pinch) Krakau of Janesville, Sharon Wescott and Betty (Jack) Kodesh, both of Rice Lake; as well as many nieces, nephews, cousins, other relatives and friends.
John was preceded in death by his parents.
Services were held at 11 a.m. Monday, Sept. 21, from Rausch-Lundeen Funeral Home, Cameron, with Rev. Donald Berry officiating and interment at Wayside Cemetery, Barron, with military honors accorded by Eubanks-Arneson American Legion Post #87 of Rice Lake.
Visitation was held an hour prior to services at the funeral home Monday.
