Richard Rogers died at his home in this township last Sunday morning, aged 92 years three months and seventeen days. Mr. Rogers was born in the township of Lyme, Connecticut, the 20th day of November 1790. When nineteen years of age he walked with several others from Lyme to Randolph, Ohio, where at the age of twenty-two he had a 110 acre farm paid for. He then enlisted in the War of 1812 and remained a soldier until its close. Returning to his farm, he soon after married Miss Cordilla Davis and remained together there for fifteen years when they traded that farm for one of over two hunderd acres in Essex County, New York, successfully managing this for about twenty five years when by reason of ill health they sold and removed to Appleton, Wisconsin, clearing upon a 100 acre farm after he was over 60 years of age. From there they removed to this township in June, 1876, where they have resided with their son, Davis Rogers, and near the homes of their two daughters, Mrs. A. Randall and Mrs. A. E. Aldrich.
