Nathan Sheldon Blackburn Thompson was the son of Elijah E Thompson and Louisa M Lee. He was born on the family farm in Stone County. He was called Sheldon. His first name came from his paternal grandfather, Nathan Thompson, and Blackburn came from his paternal great-grandfather, Samuel Blackburn. At about seven months of age he contracted an illness of the gastrointestinal tract and died. He is buried in an unmarked grave in the old part of Marionville Cemetery. (This information was given to me by my grandmother on one occasion when were looking for his grave at the cemetery. She was unable to remember the grave's location due to changes in the landscape.)
