Anna Laura Wilcox was the 13th child born to Samuel Allen Wilcox, but the first of 9 born to his second wife Annie Christina Peterson Wilcox. She was born 18 January 1874 in Cedar Fort, Utah, Utah, United States. She grew up with her large and loving family, including her father's first family. The whole community was close-knit and when the time was right, she tells us, "I was married to Fredrick Calton, January 4, 1893, in the Manti Temple. My sister, Margarett Marn, was married the same day to John Brems of Lehi. We were very happy with our double wedding."

The bought a nice home in Cedar Fort, and for 7 years they made it their home, even though Frederick's work took him to Manning, Mercur, and Sunshine. The would live long stretches at Manning and Fairfield. Then they lived on a small farm in Riverside, Box Elder, Utah for eleven years, and then moved to Metropolis, Nevada from April 1912 until 1927. Frederick then got a mail contract and the family moved to Wells, Nevada.

The couple was active in community and church, as members of the LDS Church. They raised 9 children and were involved with their many grandchildren.
