Frederick MERNER was born in Chicago, Illinois during the time his father was working at the site of the Chicago World's Fair, held in 1893. Fred was married and lived in New Hamburg until 1913 when the family moved to Kitchener. He was a game warden for the Lands and Forest Department, Waterloo Co.
He was president of Waterloo County Revolved Club from 1950 to 1958, a life member of Waterloo Rod and Gun Club, and a member of Wilmot Rod and Gun Club, Waterloo County Fish and Game Protective Association, and the Canadian Order of Foresters.
