Friday, September 18, 2009 Updated: Saturday, September 19, 2009 A rosary is scheduled for 7 p.m., Sunday, Sept. 20, 2009, at Ballard Chapel for Mabel S. Rue Lopez, 89, who passed away Sept. 17, 2009, at Mission Arch Care Center in Roswell. A funeral Mass is scheduled for 12:10 p.m., Monday, Sept. 21, 2009, at Assumption Catholic Church. Burial will follow in South Park Cemetery.
Mabel was born in Arabela, to Simon Sanchez and Tonita Carabajal. Her parents preceded her in death as did sons, Floyd, Andy, Joe, Felix, Jimmy and Melvin Rue; daughter-in-law, Lupe Rue; two grandchildren, three great-grandchildren; five brothers and six sisters. Mabel was also preceded in death by her first husband, Dudley Rue, and her second husband, Antonio Lopez.
Mabel is survived by her sons, Amos Rue, and wife Lupita, of Ruidoso, Louis Rue and wife, Mary, of Tucson, Ariz., Richard Rue of Tucson, and Toby Rue and wife, Viola, of Ruidoso; daughters, Irene Rodriquez and husband, Manuel, of Marfa, Texas, and Charmaine Aldez. She also is survived by 34 grandchildren, numerous great-grandchildren and great-great-grandchildren.
Mabel was very active in raising her family. Her favorite pastimes included crocheting, cooking and playing bingo. Mabel was a member of Assumption Catholic Church.
