Marion Forrest (Neilson) Stierwalt, 90, Gosport, died May 10, 2007 at Bloomington Hospital.

Born Feb. 21, 1917, in Cowdenbeath, Scotland, to the late David and Isabelle (Buchanan) Neilson.

She is survived by her husband Minor John Stierwalt, of Gosport, whom she married May 11, 1940.

Emigrating to the U.S. in 1920, she graduated from Lockhaven High School in Blanchard, Pa., in 1934. She then attended nurses training at Philadelphia General Hospital, before moving to Gosport in 1939.

She worked at the Robert Long Hospital in Indianapolis 1 1/2 years before she moved back to Owen County in 1943. There she was the county's health nurse from 1951 to 1952.

She was a member of the Gosport Christian Church for 64 years. She taught Sunday school and led youth groups for several years at the church.

She is survived by a son, Thomas R. Stierwalt of Gosport; a daughter, Rita Stierwalt of Spencer; a sister, Isabelle Johnson of Clinton, Ill.; three grandchildren, Lisa Taylor, Erika Utterback and Jeremy Stierwalt and five great-grandchildren, Hannah, Kaelen, Allison, Emma and Eli.

The service will be 1 p.m. Tuesday at Whitaker Funeral Home, 2 E. Main, Gosport. The Rev. Norman Ward will officiate.

Visiting hours will be from 4 to 8 p.m. at the funeral home.

Burial will follow at the Gosport Cemetery.
