They left Florence on June 19, 1860, and crossed the plains in the Captain Jesse Murphy Ox Team to Utah and arrived in Salt Lake City on August 30, 1860. They stayed in Salt Lake City for a week and then left for Provo. At first they lived in a building where barrel tubs were made. It had no floors or ceilings and the walls were not plastered. They then moved to a small house of two rooms.
