He was a farmer from Heard County, Ga. The October 31st muster roll for this company indicates that Private John Pope died on August 6, 1864. The records at Andersonville Prison indicate that a John Pope died while on duty at the prison and was buried in Americus, GA in Oak Grove Cemetery – grave # 25.
