Vertie Maurine Holifield Beech

Funeral services were held for Vertie Maurine Beech, 89, of Ovett March 9, 2001 at 2 p.m. from Jones Funeral Home Chapel.
She was a life-long resident of Jones County making her home in the
Johnson community where she resided with her husband of 67 years
before his death in 1995. She enjoyed quilting as a hobby and was a
member of the Ellisville Senior Citizens Quilting Club. She was a
foster grandparent at Ellisville State School and was loved by all
who came in contact with her. She died March 6, 2001 at her home.
She is survived by a son, Paul Hubert Beech of Lucedale; three
daughters, Maurine Scarbrough of Richton, Sandra (Thomas) Pitts of Laurel and Patsy (Charles) Eaks of Ovett; two brothers, Jessie Holifield of Ellisville and G. W. Holifield of Biloxi; a brother-in-law, Lorene Walters of Ovett, 19 grandchildren, 36 great grandchildren and 17 great great grandchildren.
She was preceded in death by her parents, John & Florence Holifield;
her husband, Cleveland J. Beech; a son, Andrew Beech; granddaughter
Lucrettia Pitts and a brother, Berlon Holifield.
Pallbearers were grandsons, Grady Scarbrough, Glenn Pitts, Joe Beech,
Joey Bradshaw, Michael Bradshaw and Timmy Eaks. Honorary pallbearers
were grandsons, Cleveland Beech, Stephan Pitts, Eric Beech, Charles Scarbrough and Arthur Scarbrough.
Interment was held at Friendship Baptist Church Cemetery in Ellisville with Rev. Larry Goff and Rev. Tommy Mangum officiating the services.
