George was a stone mason in the tradition of his father and grandfather. They were well established in the Stony Stratford/Wolverton area (Buckinghamshire) for generations.
George and first wife Mary Capon had nine children, 4 boys and 5 girls. Three of the four sons died very young.
Lord Grafton was patron to the family and at Grafton's invitation, George moved to Blisworth in the early 1840s to oversee construction of a stoneworks building there, leaving his Stony Stratford business in the hands of his son-in-law John Simpson. George died in 1856; and when Simpson died in 1861, Jabez Wills (George's one surviving son) took over business affairs. Jabez had married Catherine Hickson, a daughter of the chemist who lived in Roade, a small village that is near Blisworth. Jabez and Catherine became parents to famous chemist George S.V. Wills (Find A Grave Memorial# 83447375).
