In 1870, President Ulysses S. Grant appointed her as Petersburg's Postmistress, during which time she received a government citation for the excellence of her work. In 1882 she established a real estate and insurance agency in Petersburg.
She was a charter member of the Cradle of Liberty Chapter DAR. She was a missionary in the Hosmer Presbyterian church. She was so beloved in the town of Hosmer, the name was officially changed to Glezen to honor her.
