MRS. M. E. STONE
Florence White, daughter of William Marion and Lucy Caroline White, was born in Lucas county, Iowa, February 11, 1875, and departed this life at the home of her daughter, Mrs. J. M. Atwell, in Oskaloosa, on April 13, 1934, having attained the age of 59 years, 2 months and 2 days.
She was united in marriage to Malcome Everett Stone on September 9, 1896, and to this union were born five children, three boys, Edmond, Thomas and Donald, of Chariton, and two daughters, Mrs. John Massman, of Chariton, and Mrs. J. M. Atwell, of Oskaloosa, Iowa.
Early in life she united with the Christian church at Chariton where she has continued to keep her membership. For the past few months she had been in failing health but through this time she kept a commendable and steady hold upon the realities of life. She did no complaining because of her physical ailments, but bore a thoughtful, brave and determined view, an inspiration and an example for others.
Besides her husband and five children she leaves to mourn her departure eight grandchildren, Robert, Keith and Catherine Stone, Maxine and John Jr. Massman, Richard and Gerald Stone, all of Chariton, and Bonnie Atwell, of Oskaloosa; also one sister and one brother, Alia White and Charley White, of Chariton.
Funeral services were held at 2 p.m. Sunday at the Chariton Christian church, conducted by Rev. A. E. Beals. Interment was in the Salem cemetery.
