Nathaniel Bunyon "Bun" Guthery was born at Whitebead, Indian Territory to Nathaniel Hagan and Sarah Jane Holt Guthery. He had seven siblings, six older than he. His principal occupation was a butcher, but he plied other trades, working in fruit harvest and in construction in California in the late twenties and early thirties. He married Jessie Mayo Cowley on 06 July 1902 in Indian Territory, five years later to be named Oklahoma. From this union one living child was born in Whitebead, and six months after his youngest grandson was born he had a heart attack and died. He was a hard working, honest and upright man respected by all, and very much loved by all his family.
