Ida Mae Mattos Alves of Tuttletown, was born October 26th, 1921 and passed away on Sept 6th. She will be greatly missed by her loved ones. Her exceptional sense of humor, her faith in God, gifted hands as a quilter, delicious home cooked meals and strength as a woman will be cherished by all who knew her. She was one of seven children born to Manuel and Josephine Mattos of Buhach, Merced County. She attended McSwain Grammar School and graduated from Merced High School in 1941. She did secretarial work at Castle Air Force Base from 1941-1946, for Blue Seal Creamery, and Merced County Assessor's office. She began working for PG&E of Manteca in 1969 and retired in 1984.

Ida Mae was a member of St. Patrick's Altar Society and Pacific Services Employees Association. She enjoyed to travel and recently visited the Azorean island of San Jorge, with her sister Margaret and great niece. She shared how important this trip was to her and the value of family roots.

She is preceded in death by her husband, Ted in 1997, and is survived by her sister, Margaret Luis Edwards of Atwater, sister in-laws, Mary Mattos of Winton and Delvina Mattos of Oregon, many nieces and nephews, great nieces, and three great great nieces and two nephews.

Ida Mae Mattos Alves has asked that remembrances be made to one's favorite charity.

A Mass of Christian Burial will be held on Sat, Sept 12th at 10 AM at St. Patrick's Catholic Church in Sonora. Interment will follow at St. Patrick's Catholic Cemetery.
