Husband of Cecelia Gannon, and father of seven children: Agnes, Mary, Thomas, Elizabeth, William, Genevieve, and Anna Shields. Son of James F Shields and Mary M Monaghan. He was injured in a logging accident while moving timber, when one of them slipped and fell, crushing his chest. He lived nine days before dying from the injuries.
